The French educational system

Individuals choose France for their educational needs for a number of very good reasons. Because the French are so adamant of being able to offer students the highest in educational standards, you can always count on your chosen college and program to be among the best that you can find anywhere in the world. The people in France take their higher education exceptionally seriously. Plenty of money is spent on free education in France, and if getting the prime and elitist education that you want and need is important to you, studying in France is definitely the perfect option... if you already have a very good level in french !

It is often said that the who’s who of elite futures choose France to attain their higher education. Engineers, military leaders and many others all turn to the prime education system in France to acquire their knowledge of the industry. They turn to the colleges in the country because they know the fantastic learning opportunities that await them when they do.
Small tutorial sizes and heavy instructor intervention are two of the positive attributes that you will find while attending a college in France. The smaller class sizes and involved instructors mean that you have the time and the attention needed to learn, ask questions and get the help that you are seeking. Many colleges in other countries have overcrowded classrooms and it is often hard to find the personalized attention that you need to make the most out of your educational experience. This is not the case with the college and universities that are located in France.
There are many different colleges in France - where most of the courses are only taught in the french language, each of which can hold solid grounds on providing their students the education they deserve. No matter where you are at in the world you can rest assured that France has the higher educational system that you want. This is why so many turn their needs to the country.
French universities are open to all “bacheliers”, or a student whom has passed their baccalaureate (baccalauréat). Obviously, as a foreigner, you should perfectly know the french language !
However, while some types of degree course are open to everyone who may be interested, often, courses in certain arts faculties, social sciences, scientific and medical courses are usually available and open to students who have passed a stricter scientific baccalaureate.
The baccalaureate is the gold standard when it comes to getting into a French university; but getting into a “grande école” is a whole other story. Entry into many of the “grandes écoles” requires “bac+2″ level, which is equal to the level of the third year of university studies.  Entry into a “grande école” is usually available only for students who stay on in Lycée for two whole years after earning their baccalaureate.
